Torrential rains and gale force gusts are toppling trees on Australia’s Gold Coast this morning.

Also felled are any plans to resume action on the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events presented by Samsung, the first events on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour and ASP Women’s World Tour.

Three metre (10 to 12 foot) plus and highly unruly surf has pounded Snapper Rocks for the past couple of days, but according to Ben Matson, from Swellnet.com.au, the low pressure system responsible for these conditions is expected to slowly move away from the coastline with an improvement in weather expected starting tomorrow.”Large surf abating on Sunday with fresh to strong SE winds at first, easing rapidly throughout the afternoon. Light/mod SW winds on Monday with steadily easing wave heights. Smaller surf for Tues, Wed and first light on Thurs.
